After all, we started out with a database filled with over 500 geek spots who were all located in NL! The first city that comes to mind when you think of Holland is Amsterdam, so we’d thought we’d kick off there. Behold … 10 cool Geek Spots to check out in Amsterdam.

Top 10 must visit Geek Spots in Amsterdam
Sure Amsterdam is known for its weed, Red Light District and err museums, but did you know there are some cool VR experiences too? There are VR setups you can use at home. However some of them are expensive, perhaps we don’t all have a beast of a PC or quite frankly, the space necessary to move around in VR.
One of my favorite is VR Arcade. What makes them unique is that they offer a 200 m2 free roaming experience. This is how you should experience virtual reality. In VR Arcade’s immersive experience, you and your teammates get ready to slay hordes of zombies. The PC that powers the headset and your weapon (yes, your peripheral is a gun, no mundane controllers here) is located in a comfortable backpack. This way you are not limited by any cables so you can move around freely.

The Virtuality uses a different solution for offering an immerse virtual reality experience. At their location, they use virtual reality in combination with a specially designed (for lack of better words) treadmill called the Virtuix Omni. The Virtuix Omni lets you walk around for miles and miles, or even fly around in space or a fantasy world. Who knows you might even get in a work out with all that walking.
Not in the mood for VR, no worries. Across from VR Arcade, you’ll find Funbase. It’s a community spot where geeks and gamers can meet up. There are board games, videogames (current gen, retro, and PC), there is even a ball pit. Funbase is open every Friday for you to unwind and kick off your weekend.
Is your stomach growling and want eating breakfast for breakfast, lunch or dinner? We know just the place: Cereal and Chill! They have over 100 different kinds of cereals on their menu. You can mix them to your own delight. This spot is decked out in a vibrant nineties vibe, it even includes some retro video games and open ’til 21:00. EPIC!
Fancy eating at a place that is more oriented towards video games? Boy oh boy, Blast Galaxy has your back. This is my go-to spot to do anything basically. At Blast Galaxy you pay an entrance fee and that’s it! You can play ALL THE GAMES without ever using a token! Now you can finally finish that game, that has been haunting you since childhood. Remember we said you should visit this place when you’re hungry? They have the best tasting Patatje Rendang (Fries with Rendang, an Indonesian spicy meat stew) and their signature chicken wings are finger licking good. Seriously you really want to taste them.
Ranked Esports bar is an esports bar in Amsterdam. They frequently host tournaments and get-togethers. Are you feeling more like watching E-sports and having a drink with friends or meeting new people? This is the place for you.
For all cat lovers and pastries sweetness, the go-to geek spot is Cat cafe Kopjes. The cats and staff are super sweet.
We can’t have a top 10 geek spots without adding some shops. My two faves are Henk Comics and A Space Oddity. Henk Comics has a wide selection of comics and manga. As well as Gundam Model kits, merch, and other stuff. This store is jam-packed. A Space Oddity sells merchandise and collectibles from various movies, comics, video games, and other pop culture references. They also stock model kits from Bandai like Gundam, Star Wars and Dragon Ball Z.
After a long day of geek adventure in Amsterdam you probably want to get some rest and sleep. Chill out at Amsterdam’s only game hotel: The Arcade hotel. This hotel has a dedicated game room with gaming PCs and consoles. Every room has a retro console, for some good old gaming fun and sleep.
